The penultimate WRC event of 2018 took place on the tricky gravel and tarmac roads of Catalunya, Spain at the end of October.
Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT was leading the constructors championship while their Estonian pilot Ott Tänak and his co-pilot Martin Järveoja were going full throttle to catch the leaders and eventual champions Sebastien Ogier and Julian Ingrassia.
It was a surreal experience hearing so much Estonian in a foreign country and witnessing the onslaught of blue-black-white flags as far as the eye could see. The four days were packed with joy and pride as well as early wake-up calls, loads of walking and ultimately nerve wrackingly long periods of waiting for that one glimpse of the fastest pilot in the world. Unfortunately for this year the end result turned out to be bittersweet, as in a rally the quickest is not always the winner.
2019 is Ott's and Martin's time.
